October 24 - October 27 shop our Chatsworth Book Fair!

Sign up to volunteer!

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Chatsworth Elementary! The book fair will be in Forest Park Gym Tuesday October 24 through Friday October 27. Students will be shopping during school hours with their class. We also have extended shopping hours as follows:

  • Thursday October 26 6-7pm: Join us and FALL FOR BOOKS! Do you like your Fall spooky or cozy? We’ve got plenty of great picks no matter how you like to celebrate Fall!

    • NEW, QUIET SENSORY SPACE! We realize that some members of our Chatsworth family can be overwhelmed in busy spaces full of loud noises. We want all of our students and their families to feel welcome at our event. If one of your little ones is someone who sometimes needs a breather when things get too noisy, busy, crowded or overwhelming, you can now bring them to a safe, quiet spot. This space will be offered in our "cozy” fall room (the room right behind the greeter’s desk). What you can expect to find there: soothing music, dimmer lights, mats for sitting on the floor, noise-blocking headphones and a box with some sensory items that can be borrowed while your child calms down and re-centers themself. Students using this space MUST be accompanied by an adult at all times. Adults will be responsible for returning borrowed items to the volunteer in the area.

  • Friday Morning Shopping October 27: 8:00 - 8:45am Have early risers at home?  Stop by before school!.

We can’t wait to see Forest Park Gym filled with books once again!

FAQ:

Can I come and shop with my child when their class goes to the fair?
Yes! We LOVE having families come in and shop with their children during school hours. We will have shopping times posted here and in the Weekly Chat so stay tuned!

How much does a book cost?
Estimated costs of books at the fair:

  • Picture Book - $7-10

  • Easy Reader - $6-9

  • Chapter Book - $6-9

  • Graphic Novel - $15-20

  • Hardcover - $13-20

All purchases are subject to the appropriate taxes.

How much money should I send? And what’s the best way to send it?
Send whatever you feel comfortable sending and refer to the book price guidelines to help you determine what makes sense for your family. If you are anticipating giving your child a larger budget, EWallet is a safe way to make sure nothing gets lost or dropped. We accept cash, checks made out to the Chatsworth Ave PTA, credit cards and EWallet.

Can I volunteer to help with the fair?
If you would like to volunteer to help at the fair, send an email to Katie Bartley at katie.m.bartley@gmail.com.

EWallet

Give your child a safe, cashless way to shop at the Book Fair. This digital payment option can be used in-person, and funds can be added as needed. Any remaining funds will become a Gift Card balance that can be used online at Scholastic.com or at a future book fair. Unlike prior years, the remaining balance will NOT be refunded to your card (you can use it at the online store or on Book Club Orders).

To learn more and set up an EWallet click here.

Don’t forget to PRINT your EWallet - you’ll get a confirmation email once you’ve funded your EWallet - click the link and then PRINT the balance and barcode to make shopping and checkout a snap. This is critical especially for the younger children who may not remember how much they have to spend.

All For Books

This year, one of our Book Fair goals is to ensure as many children as possible have access to and receive books. One of the ways we can do that is through the All for Books program.

We will be donating the books to local families being server by the Community Resource Center in Mamaroneck. Our books will go to immigrant and low-income children within our community!

In support of All for Books, this year we will be rounding up at the register! When you make a purchase, the price will automatically be rounded up to the nearest dollar and we’ll put your coins towards All for Books. If your purchase is $15.50, you’ll be charged $16.00 and that $.50 will go towards All for Books!

Not only does your donation help our cause, but Scholastic Book Fairs® will match monetary donations with a donation of up to $1 million in books from The Scholastic Possible Fund, which distributes books to children in need through organizations such as Kids In Need Foundation, Delivering Good, and the National Center for Families Learning.

We can’t wait to see all that we can achieve together!

If you wish to opt out, please send a note with your child indicating you do not want to round up. Your child should present the note at checkout.
