Welcome to the Social and Emotional Learning Committee at Chatsworthl!
We are dedicated to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where our students can thrive. Through engaging activities, workshops, and resources, we aim to equip our young learners (and parents!) with essential skills such as empathy, self-awareness, and effective communication.

Parent Circles

Four times each year, we host a group discussion exclusively designed for elementary school parents, facilitated by Drs. Alan Dienstag and Katie Sawyer of the Larchmont Mamaroneck Community Counseling Center.

These events focus on enhancing our children's social and emotional wellbeing as well as giving parents the opportunity to share their experiences, gain valuable insights from one another, and connect with other parents in a supportive community environment. This video is an interview with Alan and Katie after their event entitled "Burning Questions" (event description below) which summarizes the key points discussed for anyone who was unable to attend the event and is interested in learning more.

#1: Burning Questions!

Parent talk debrief with Dr. Katie Sawyer and Dr. Alan Dienstag.
04.24.2023

We’ve talked together about anxiety, resilience, body image, and sibling conflict. We’ve pondered parenting in the digital age, how our judgments impact our children, and how do we stop from turning into our parents! But there are always SOOOOO many questions left to answer. Well…. now is the time for those! Ask about something that has you stumped. Ask for a suggestion or the always popular, “what do I say when…..” question. Ask anything!
