World Kindness Week
Chatsworth Avenue School will be celebrating World Kindness Week from Monday, November 10, through Friday, November 14.
Each day, students are invited to join in themed activities that promote kindness, empathy, and community spirit. Thank you for helping us nurture a culture of kindness, at school and at home!
5th Grade Bingo Night
Calling all 5th Grade Chat students! Feeling lucky? Come to 5th Grade Bingo Night to eat pizza, hang with classmates and try to win some sweet prizes! Pizza and juice will be provided!
Wednesday, November 19, 6 - 7 PM in the CHAT Cafeteria
Please note this is a drop-off event for students only, but each child must be picked up by a parent or adult caregiver at 7 PM. We cannot dismiss a child without an adult caregiver coming to the cafeteria and signing them out.
Sam Wedelich Author Visit
Author and illustration Sam Wedelich will be visiting our K-2 classes for an in-person author visit. Ms. Wedelich will be performing a read aloud with silly/funny voices, presenting a short slideshow about creativity and how she thinks about writing/illustrating stories, and demonstrating her drawing before a Q & A.
Spring BGC Electives Registration
Registration for Boys & Girls Club After School Electives opens at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, January 13. Electives include everything from chess and sewing to STEM and Spanish. Registration is first come, first served.
Hot Yoga Class
Start the New Year off right! Grab your yoga mat and join your Chatsworth Family Friends for a refreshing sweat session!
Join us for a fun and challenging HOT yoga class suitable for both beginners and experienced practitioners. This 75-minute Original Hot Yoga Class will be taught by Melissa Lobo, who brings 16 years of experience from her time teaching Bikram Yoga at Bode (formerly Bikram NYC) studios. The class will offer a condensed version of the traditional 90-minute series. Whether you’re stepping onto a yoga mat for the first time or are an expert, this event promises to be enjoyable and invigorating! Come detox with us, so you can retox guilt-free at our other Chat parties!

Elise Broach Author Visit
Using one or two of her picture books as examples, Ms. Broach’s K-2 presentation will give an overview of the road from initial burst of inspiration to published book (and all the potholes in between!). Topics include: where ideas come from, what makes a great picture book, the process of revising story and art to create the final book, and the building blocks of story.
Ms. Broach’s 3-5 presentation on mystery writing will discuss the elements of a good mystery, how to build suspense, revision, and how to handle different writing challenges. It will focus on The Superstition Mountain Trilogy, Masterpiece, Shakespeare’s Secret, and The Wolf Keepers.
Real Housewives of Chatsworth Galentines
Don’t be tardy for this party! This Galentines whoop it up Real Housewives style. We promise to make it nice, with RH-inspired foods, drinks, and fun. Earth Friendly Friday
This Friday, November 7, students who walk/ bike/ scoot/ bus to school receive raffle tickets upon arrival at school. Children who pick up trash that they find along the way get extra raffle tickets! Three winners will be announced in school, and the lucky winners will go home with a gift certificate to Longford's!
We need parent volunteers to assist in handing out raffle tickets to the students as they arrive! If you are interested in volunteering to help hand out raffle tickets from 8:10-8:45 am, please sign up here!

Donate your excess Halloween Candy to the Marines! Look for a table with a member of the Community Outreach Committee team on the playground before or after school on Monday, November 3 and Wednesday, November 5. We take all leftover candy!
Halloween Parade
As has been a tradition for many decades, we look forward to our annual Chatsworth Halloween Parade, which will take place on Friday, October 31st. The 5th graders will lead the parade and begin walking at 2:00 p.m. All students, grades K through 5 will march around the building. The parade will begin on the Forest Park Avenue side of the school and students will continue to Chatsworth Avenue, then Addison Street, turning on to Larchmont Avenue, and returning to Forest Park Avenue to reenter the building. We look forward to seeing your smiles as you line up around the school to cheer us on as we march. Feel free to take as many photographs as you would like, but no family members will be allowed onto school grounds during the parade. Students will NOT be dismissed from the parade and will return back to their classrooms. Parents can enter the school grounds at 2:55 pm for a regular dismissal.
Please make a note of the following costume guidelines:
Any type of weapon is prohibited.
Face masks are strictly prohibited.
Costumes must go on OVER clothing.
Please do not send any face paint or makeup that must be applied in school.
Please avoid gory costumes that may scare other children.
Students should be able to put their costumes on independently (with minimal assistance). They may need to practice this at home beforehand.
Please do NOT send children to school wearing their costumes.
We can not allow any inflatable costumes due to safety concerns.
Grades 3-5 Tinkering Night

5th Grade School Photo
The 5th grade photo will be taken outside right after students arrive at school. 5th graders should go directly to their classes in the morning and their teachers will bring them down for the photo.
