Earth Friendly Friday is May 15!
This Friday, May 15, we will celebrate May's Earth Friendly Friday! Any students who walk/ bike/ scoot/ bus to school will get raffle tickets, and students who pick up trash that they find along the way or around the school will get tickets, too. 3 winners will be announced in school, and the lucky winners will go home with a gift certificate to Longfords!

Save the Date for the K-5 Art Show!
Mrs. Belinquete invites all of our Chatsworth families to a K-5 Art Show on Tuesday, May 19 from 4–6 PM.
This exhibit will feature drawings, paintings, and sculptures inspired by both modern and contemporary artists. From bold Pop Art influences to expressive abstract creations, each piece reflects the imagination, growth, and unique voice of our students. We hope you can join us to celebrate their hard work, creativity, and artistic journeys. It’s a wonderful opportunity for students to share their art and for families to experience the vibrant creativity happening in our art classroom!

Exciting news! Award-winning author Susan Hood is coming to speak to our K-5 students on Thursday, May 21. The titles listed below are suggested recommendations by grade level, but families are welcome to order any book they feel would be a good fit for their child. Suggested titles by grade:

Chatsworth Spring Fair
Chatsworth Spring Fair on May 30th!
The Spring Fair is one of the school’s largest events and welcomes the entire community for a day of games, prizes, music, food, and more! In order to make this a success we need your support!
Please Volunteer! We need over 180 volunteers to make this day a success (At least 5-6 parents per class!) Shifts are 90 minutes in duration during which you’re responsible for manning the game tables and booths. Please sign up here! We’ve made sign-ups easy and fun - shifts are short and you can volunteer with a friend! This is a great opportunity for middle and high school student volunteers as well.
Tickets are on sale! If you pre-order online before May 22nd, we will deliver to your student’s cubby at school on Wednesday May 27th or Thursday May 28th. If ordering for the whole family, you can choose one child’s classroom. You will see the option when you are selecting your items online HERE.

Chatsworth Science Fair
Calling All 4th & 5th Grade Chatsworth Scientists!
The Chatsworth Avenue Science Fair will be held on Thursday April 30th from 6:00 - 7:30 PM. This is an exciting opportunity for science-curious students to dig deep into a topic of their choice and share their results with the Chatsworth community. Presenters are limited to 4th and 5th graders and must register below by April 6th. Scientists can work on their projects independently (or in groups up to 4) at home. We are also offering optional working sessions on April 7th, 14th and 21st to help children plan and execute their projects. Attention all curious K-2 kids and hands-on grown-ups! Chatsworth K–2 students and their parents/caregivers are invited to Machines in Motion: Exploring Simple Machines.
Through exciting hands-on activities, kids and their grown-ups will work together to build and test simple machines like levers, pulleys, screws, wheels, and more. Make your own clothespin car and use gears to create art. Come tinker, explore, and see how simple machines make work easier!

Drumroll, please! We’re thrilled to announce that the 2026 Chatsworth Musical will be… THE DESCENDANTS!
Calling all thespians, singers, dancers, and fans of Mal, Evie, Carlos, and Jay—this year’s production is gearing up to be our most magical yet! Audition information will be shared soon, but for now, warm up those voices, practice those moves, and save the dates! As in previous years, 5th graders may audition for cast roles or sign up for stage crew while 4th graders will shine as part of the chorus.

Elise Broach Author Visit
Using one or two of her picture books as examples, Ms. Broach’s K-2 presentation will give an overview of the road from initial burst of inspiration to published book (and all the potholes in between!). Topics include: where ideas come from, what makes a great picture book, the process of revising story and art to create the final book, and the building blocks of story.
Ms. Broach’s 3-5 presentation on mystery writing will discuss the elements of a good mystery, how to build suspense, revision, and how to handle different writing challenges. It will focus on The Superstition Mountain Trilogy, Masterpiece, Shakespeare’s Secret, and The Wolf Keepers.

Lunar New Year
Each month our Global Celebrations committee will recognize cultural events celebrated by members of the Chatsworth community. If there is a holiday or cultural celebration taking place in your household this month please let us know! We can't wait to learn and share more!
This month at Chatsworth we will be celebrating Lunar New Year. Lunar New Year, also known as Chinese New Year or Spring Festival, is a special holiday celebrated by millions of people across the world, especially in countries like China, Korea, Vietnam, and Singapore. In 2026, Lunar New Year begins on Feb 17th and marks the start of the Year of the Snake. Families celebrate with big feasts, decorating with red for good luck, and giving "lucky money" in red envelopes. Exciting traditions include dragon and lion dances, fireworks, and cleaning the house to sweep away bad luck and make room for good fortune.
If Lunar New Year is meaningful to your family, you are welcomed and encouraged to talk to your child's class teacher to organize a celebration or send information in. Learn more about Lunar New Year here.

Join us for a fun and challenging HOT yoga class suitable for both beginners and experienced practitioners. This 75-minute Original Hot Yoga Class will be taught by Melissa Lobo, who brings 16 years of experience from her time teaching Bikram Yoga at Bode (formerly Bikram NYC) studios. The class will offer a condensed version of the traditional 90-minute series. Whether you’re stepping onto a yoga mat for the first time or are an expert, this event promises to be enjoyable and invigorating! Dr. Blake Brandes Author Visit
We are excited to have Dr. Blake Brandes join our students on Thursday, January 8 for a fun and engaging Growth Mindset presentation. Dr. Brandes is a TEDx speaker, America’s Got Talent contestant, and Marshall Scholar who has spoken to more than 500,000 students around the world. During the presentation, our students will learn valuable skills to help them overcome challenges and achieve their dreams! Through a demonstration of his passion for beatboxing and freestyle rap, along with stories of his own struggle to achieve his goals, Brandes brings energy and enthusiasm to the stage that allows him to connect with students.
Dr. Blake has written beautifully illustrated children's books to accompany his powerful message, and he is offering autographed copies to our students!

Sam Wedelich Author Visit
Author and illustrator Sam Wedelich will be visiting our K-2 classes for an in-person author visit. Ms. Wedelich will be performing a read aloud with silly/funny voices, presenting a short slideshow about creativity and how she thinks about writing/illustrating stories, and demonstrating her drawing before a Q & A.
Sensory and Family-Friendly Performance of Soundscape Selections
Join us for a sensory and family- friendly performance of selections from this year's Soundscapes, PACE's student-directed music concert. This special collaboration between PACE and the SSC will provide a fun and welcoming environment for families with young children and those with special needs. This performance will feature: reduced contrast in lighting and sound levels; house lights half on during the show; quiet space; snacks allowed in the theater; and flexible seating.
